Dublin’s First Outdoor Roller Disco

Over the past few years, roller skating has seen a resurgence worldwide, and Dublin is no exception. If you take a stroll around Grand Canal Dock, Sandymount Strand or Dún Laoghaire Pier, you are bound to encounter members of this vibrant community. Inspired by the regular roller disco meet-ups on Sundays in Central Park, New York, and Skate Love Festival, Barcelona, we produced Dublin’s first ever outdoor roller disco for Culture Night Dublin 2023.

Presented in collaboration with Hines, the operator of Central Plaza, the event was hosted by roller-skating extraordinaire and Culture Night Dublin 2023 Ambassador, Gráinne Binns, with classic disco tunes provided by Bang Bike Soundsystem. Audiences were encouraged to come dressed to impress in disco and festival-inspired wear and to dance the night away in the heart of Dublin City Centre.
